All banks have their own set of rules.
The first and important thing for a
merchant account holder is that only one
account for one product is allowed. The
registration and the setting up of a new
merchant account will be costly.
Therefore, to sell the goods and
products, a merchant has to open as many
accounts as per the number of products
they sell which will cost huge
investment to the merchant. These are
the hindrances of merchant account. A
merchant may not have a high sales
return so these offers are not
affordable by the merchants who run
small scale businesses. Different
products has to be shown in the
different account types of merchant
account but all the products may come
under the same business domain or name.
The internet service provider (ISP)
controls the working of the merchant
account businesses. If all the products
of a merchant were placed under one
account name then how will the internet
companies make profit? Which also means,
the merchants use the internet service
to sell their products as well they make
huge profits out of it. If hundred or
more products are sold under a single
merchant account, then the merchant’s
profit increases but not the bank’s
because the merchant has made payment
only for one account.
If a merchant process few credit cards
in a month then the bank charges some
amount as fine. The bank fixes a minimum
transaction process of the credit card,
failing to which a merchant account will
be terminated or cancelled.
Many formalities are set up before the
merchants during the process of
obtaining the factors and element of an
electronic banking system. A merchant
may have a huge business but the banks
do not allow them to have one account
for multiple purposes. The banks do not
allow as there are many risky factors
involved in the assessment as well as
during the evaluation time. If a
merchant fails to follow the rules set
by the bank, a fraud case will be filed
against the merchant. Reputation of a
merchant is also very important in the
market. A reputed merchandise business
attracts lot of customers and that is
why the business succeeds. So, to make a
steady place in the market, a merchant
has to fulfil all the formalities for
the business.
There are so many merchant account
providers in the recent business
environment, today. A merchant can
change as well as transfer from one
merchant account provider to another.
But the problem is a certain amount of
fees has to be paid to the present bank
while making transfers and
cancellations. The frauds create a big
hindrance in any kind of merchandise
business. Because of the fraudsters, the
banks do not trust the merchants doing
merchandise business. After the
completion of the total compulsory
tasks, a merchant is issued a merchant
account. The hindrances include
mortgages too which the bank may ask for
if a merchant fail to meet the rules
structure. These play the role of
obstacles to merchant accounts. |
